Don't Be Shy With The Paint
acrylic on canvas
size: 8' x 8'
"Don't be shy with the paint" my Grandmother Alice used to tell
me. She taught me to paint as a small child and I named my first
FingerSmear after her. When I lived in San Francisco I used to produce a
hands-on arts festival for inner-city schools called "Montage".
The event consisted of 15 diverse working studios that allowed guests to
paint, sculpt, make paper, drum drums, make masks, etc. Through
producing "Montage" I developed a way to paint with large numbers
of people over a long periods of time, the outcome - FingerSmears. This
image is taken from a Greek Market on the island of Crete.
