e-i-e-i-o Kids
acrylic on canvas
size: 48" x 48"
This piece comes from one of my fondest memories of hiking in Northern
Thailand. I was the only woman trekking with seven men, all of whom had
way to much Mekong whiskey and opium the night before. I was left alone to
wander about the village while they made futile attempts to sleep off the
dog that had bitten them so very hard the night before. The women of the
village taught me some of their daily chores through the games of charade.
The children were silly and uninhibited. These four children were singing
and dancing. I tried, to no avail to get them to teach me the song.
Finally I decided it might be more effective to teach them one. Yes, It
was old McDonald. They didn't get the whole thing but they were great with
the e-i-e-i-o part. The original was traded for a 1968 cherry red Mustang
that I loved until someone ran into it. No it wasn't insured. I think my
next trade will be a Mercedes-Benz, and yes, I will insure it.
