Mother's Love
pastel on black board
size: 24" x 36"
This is another piece from the Hill Tribe Villages of Northern Thailand.
This woman and her children passed me on the trail. The small child seemed
quite frightened by either myself or my camera. His mother motioned that
it was alright for me to photograph them, though the small one was not
convinced. She smiled at him, almost snickering at his fear, while giving
him a reassuring pat on the back of the head. As they passed me the child
moved to the very outer edge of the trail in attempts to avoid any
possible contact. His mother smiled and nodded at me knowing that I
appreciated the simple gestures of her son and the encouragement of his
mother.
